See You Later, Lines! Everything You Need to Know About Neurotoxins.

There are multiple types of neurotoxins – Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport just to name a few. No matter which one you feel most comfortable with, the most important factor is who is injecting it. At Front Door Medspa, our cosmetic injectors are licensed medical professionals who have completed extensive training to help you look your best. The second most important factor is how the neurotoxin is reconstituted. Neurotoxins arrive “unmixed” and it is up to the staff to follow protocol given to them by the manufacturer. Many practices will over-dilute the neurotoxins; which causes the product to be ineffective, wear off quicker, or more units to be required.

What Areas can Tox Treat?

The forehead and around the eyes (crow’s feet) are extremely common areas for neurotoxin injection. But did you know neurotoxins can also be injected into the neck, jaw, chin, nose, and trap area? Downturned nasal tips, frowned mouth corners, dimpling chin, neck lines, and “gummy smile” are all easily corrected! And the bulging jaw muscles that hurt and give you headaches or toothaches? We can treat those too! We can even inject Botox into the armpits and scalp to prevent excessive sweating!

Am I a Candidate?

Some people are curious about being allergic or immune to Botox or other neurotoxins. This is fairly rare! Developing “neutralizing antibodies” to neurotoxins only occurs in 1.5% of patients. When it comes to an allergic reaction, only one incident has ever occurred after a Botox injection. This was due to incorrect reconstitution of the product with lidocaine. Many people believe they cannot use Botox if they have an egg allergy. However, the product is made up of human albumin and contains no egg product. If you are an individual with allergies or have fears of reaction, you can always have a small skin test performed.
